“According to the Yoga Sutras of
Patanjali, the practice of meditation adds no special powers
at all. All the powers are always present within us, but they are lying blocked
(Sutra IV.3). When a farmer wants to irrigate his field , he does not
create water, nor does he push it into the field. He simply raises the sluice
gate that was blocking the flow, and the field is automatically irrigated. The
blocks we have placed in our minds are simply removed in meditation so that the
inner forces begin to function, and all our faculties come to their fullest
possible growth.”
